Spring Training

Spring training has been cut short this year for baseball teams. We are uncertain when the baseball league will start playing due to COVID-19.

God took me on a tangent this morning. He stated,

“I am taking my team into a season of spring training.

I am building in them spiritual muscle.

I am developing some new skills in them. I am honing their faith, their ability to hear my voice, and their ability to see things from my perspective rather than man’s perspective.

Will they embrace the training? Will they discipline themselves to build the muscle? Will they obey what I tell them to strengthen themselves in me? Will they stay focused on what I am teaching them?

Will they persevere when it gets tiring and exhausting? Will they push through the pain to develop more muscle? Will they rest and eat right? Will they feed on me rather than junk food?

Will they follow what I say, despite it not making sense?

The season I have planned in the future will require this training.

You hope things will go back to life as it used to be. I don’t. Are you okay with that? It will be better. You will be a lean, mean fighting machine spiritually if you meet the cut and embrace the team. (By the way, I don’t cut anyone!) Join the team to play in the World Series of events that will change the course of history. That means prayer, fasting, and abiding in me as the coach. Focus on me, nothing else. It’s worth the self-discipline and hard work. Embrace this season of spring training.”

Today He pointed me to Psalm 84:5-9 (TPT).

Note the words of strength in this passage.

How enriched are they who find their strength in the Lord; within their hearts are the highways of holiness 6 Even when their paths wind through the dark valley of tears, they dig deep to find a pleasant pool where others find only pain. He gives to them a brook of blessing filled from the rain of an outpouring. 7 They grow stronger and stronger with every step forward, and the God of all gods will appear before them in Zion. 8 Hear my cry, O God of Heaven’s Armies! God of Jacob, listen to my loving prayer. Pause in his presence 9 God, your wrap-around presence is our defense. In your kindness look upon the faces of your anointed ones.

So what has God been having you focus on in your spring training?

For me, He is instructing me to listen to Him rather than listening to man’s voice of fear in this plague event. He wants for me to speak confident prayers of protection for myself and others.

How about you?
